UTC Elder Scholars Meeting Will Be Held Dec. 8

  • Sunday, November 29, 2015

The December meeting of the University of Tennessee Chattanooga's Elder Scholars will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 8 at 1 p.m. in the University Center, Signal Mountain Room. This is a change in rooms and it’s on the 3rd floor and near the front stairs.  If you come up the elevator, turn left into the long hall.

The presentation is entitled “History of UTC and What Services UTC and Chattanooga State Provide to Seniors.”

Organizers said, "Several of us meet at noon in the University Center for lunch together.  We will be in the corner over by the windows, near the door facing Vine Street.  Please join us.

"The most frequently requested program from our membership was a presentation of what benefits are available to senior citizens from UTC and Chattanooga State.  Well, ask and you shall receive, because this is the topic for our December program: 'History of UTC and what Services UTC and Chattanooga State provide to seniors.'"

The University of Tennessee will present a short program on the history of UTC and then provide a description of the benefits available to senior citizens at UTC and how to access those benefits.  "For example, if one of the benefits is being able to audit a class for free after you are age 65, we will be told how to register for the class and what the expectations are for us when we audit a class," officials said. "Chattanooga State will follow with a presentation on what benefits are available on their campus for senior citizens.  We think this will be a great program and we hope to see you there."

Attendees can park free only in Lot 7, which is at Douglas and East 5th Street, or the Fifth Street Parking Garage (the high rise parking garage).  If you park in the 7th Street lot, be sure and put a
copy of this announcement letter on your dash board, and you shouldn’t get a ticket.

In the new year, their Jan. 12 meeting topic will be “Medicare Comparisons - A Head Start on Making Good Decisions for 2017”.
