George Shirilla
George Shirilla, Lt. Col., US Army (ret), 70, of Rocky Face, Georgia died on Friday, November 27, 2015.
He was born in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Peter and Elizabeth Shirilla.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Jeanette.
Mr. Shirilla was a U.S. Army veteran, serving for 20 years. He was a veteran of the Viet Nam War and was awarded the Bronze Star, ARCOM with Valor, Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Metal 13. He was a member of American Legion Post 112, Dalton, Georgia, and the Viet Nam Veterans Helicopter Association. Mr. Shirilla was a member of Grace Episcopal Church.
Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Marge Shirilla; son, Ken Shirilla; daughter, Nancy Yates; and four grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 1, at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
