UTC quarterback Jacob Huesman and offensive linemen Corey Levin and Synjen Herren made first team All-Southern Conference announced Wednesday as they helped lead the Mocs to a share of the conference title.
While talented on the gridiron, they have also made the all-Longhorn Steakhouse team in Hixson for their ability to put away large quantities of food in one sitting.
For the last few years Huesman and members of the offensive line go to dinner at a local restaurant each Thursday night during the season.
"it's a good time to bond together and we usually eat at the same restaurant as long we win," said Huesman during Tuesday's weekly football press luncheon.
So after the loss to Mercer the team went to Longhorn for the first time Nov 12 prior to The Citadel game for a good helping of chicken tenders.
The players returned the19th to celebrate the victory against the Bulldogs.
100 Chicken Tenders: One waitress at Longhorn said," We fixed 100 chicken tenders for those guys which is the most we have ever served to one group. Along with about 15 orders of bread and a couple of appetizers, we learned those guys can really eat.
"We hope the come back this week, get a win Saturday and return again next Thursday."
With Thanksgiving this Thursday Huesman and company might consider moving the weekly meal to tonight (Wednesday).
Saturday Playoff Game: The Mocs and Fordham (N.Y.) meet Saturday at 1 p.m. at Finley Stadium in an NCAA FCS first round playoff game.
Fordham has arguably the best running back in the nation, in sophomore All-American Chase Edmonds who has gained 1,000-+ yards each of the last two years.
The Mocs have a pair of 1,000 yard runners in Huesman and Derrick Craine.
