Chattanooga Police Recommend Lock It, Hide It Or Hold It On Black Friday

  • Tuesday, November 24, 2015

Occurrences of burglaries are down and the Chattanooga Police Department would like to help everyone keep it that way as the holiday season approaches.   The Chattanooga Police Department is requesting Chattanoogans to Lock It, Hide It, or Hold It this Black Friday.

“When we remove the victim from the crime triangle of offender/opportunity/victim we remove the crime,” said Chattanooga Chief of Police Fred Fletcher.  “By following these three simple steps you can decrease the odds of becoming a victim of theft.”

Officers recommend the following:

Lock It - Lock your vehicle every time you leave it unattended.

Hide It - Hide Your Valuables… Nothing encourages theft like a car full of clearly visible shopping bags. Lock them in your trunk.  Remember what may not seem to have a great deal of value to you might have value to a thief.

Hold It - If you can’t Lock it or Hide it, then Hold it. Taking your valuable item with you will help decrease the chances it will be stolen from your car.

To report any crime call 698-2525. If something happens to you or someone else, or you notice anyone out of the ordinary immediately call 911, said officers.
