Megan Grass Is American Paper And Twine Teacher Of The Week

  • Monday, November 23, 2015

American Paper & Twine Co., Titans Radio and Georgia-Pacific Communication Papers announced Mrs. Megan Grass, special education teacher from Spring Creek Elementary School in Chattanooga, was selected as Teacher of the Week for week 12 of the Tennessee Titans 2015 football season.

“It is inspiring to read the nominations we receive each week," said Ruth Elliott, director of marketing at American Paper & Twine Co.  "Particularly when it’s for a teacher as passionate about seeing students succeed as Mrs. Grass.  Because of her dedication to her students, we are pleased to honor Mrs. Grass as the Teacher of the Week.”

Spring Creek Elementary School parent Arnesia Edwards nominated Mrs. Grass. “I've never met a special education teacher as passionate about her kids as Mrs. Grass. Megan isn't only involved at school, but she is often involved in her students' lives outside of school.

“The biggest thing is the spirit of love that she has for her kids, and I say her kids because to Megan, they are her kids. Often times special ed teachers don't get recognized or acknowledged for the outstanding work they contribute. Some people believe that children with special needs are not capable of learning, but when given the opportunity they often exceed expectations. That's what Megan does and why she deserves to be named Teacher of the Week.”

Each home game during the Titans’ season, submissions are reviewed to find exceptional teachers. The winning teachers receive a gift basket full of supplies for their classroom and two tickets to see a Tennessee Titans home game. A new winner is announced for every Tennessee Titans home game and at the end of the season a ‘Teacher of the Year’ is selected from the Teacher of the Week winners. This deserving teacher will receive an award, a deluxe gift basket of school supplies and tickets to the Dec. 27 game vs. the Houston Texans.

To nominate a teacher visit www.ShopAPT.com/Teacher, and tell why the teacher deserves to be recognized. There is no limit to the number of entries a teacher can receive, so encourage family and friends to submit an entry.
