Held Long Careers With The U.S. Army And Postal Service

Nathaniel “Jack” Blackwell, Jr., 83, died on November 21, 2015.  

He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 18 years of service. He served 29 years in the United States Army. He was a member of Prospect Baptist Church.

Survivors include his loving wife, Mae Edith Blackwell; children, Vanya “Kim” Blackwell, Yolanda “Gale” Blackwell, Gerald (Marva) Blackwell, Gary “Lil Jack” Blackwell, Michael (Theresa) Hines, Steve (Freda) Hines, Warren (Linda) Hines; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, Nov. 27, at Prospect Baptist with Pastor J. P. Trimble officiating. Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery. 

The body will lie in state after noon on Wednesday, Nov. 25, at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
