Here are some of the Jazzanooga happenings during October: 

Startup Week: Open Dialogues: Defining Inclusion and Diversity

As part of Startup Week Chattanooga, the team behind Jazzanooga and Animate MLK will host a workshop led by national consultant, Dr. Linda Wiley on diversity and segregation in Chattanooga's arts, culture and creative communities. This workshop will take place Tuesday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and includes breakfast and lunch.

Animate MLK Pop Up Art Space, Live on the Big Nine, Oct. 17, 3-8 p.m. at 401 MLK Blvd.

An empty building on MLK Boulevard has been transformed into a pop up art gallery featuring some of Chattanooga's musicians and visual artists.  There will be a cash bar and food. 

Eric Foster Williams is bringing DJ Street Mix along with DJ J Star and DJ Durty.  There will be live performances by The Power Players, Stratton Tingle, Eclectic Movement Dance Company and more.

Featured visual artists include Rondell Crier, R Josiah Golson, Anier Fernandez, Antonio Dwayne Snipes Jr., Devon Kronenberg, Hollie Berry Elizondo, James McKissic, Jequise Beverly, Josué F. Carrillo, Mercedes Llanos and Tiffany Leairis Woodard.

Gospel and Soul Brunch

Celebrate the birthday of gospel legend Mahalia Jackson. A soul food buffet while listening to uplifting, soulful music. Dipped Fresh is catering the October brunch. 

Sunday, Oct.18, at the Bessie Smith Cultural Center from 1:30-3 p.m. with the sounds of 2 Deep Within and the Voices of THECREATIVEUNDERGROUND. Tickets are $15 and must be purchased in advance by clicking here.
