Police said a man wrecked soon after speeding past two police officers.
Ryan David Ladd, 40, is facing a host of charges.
The officers said they were at 2nd Avenue when a red Chevrolet S10 pickup truck went by "at an extremely high rate of speed."
The officers tried to catch up and found that the vehicle had wrecked with a Ford F150 pickup that had been going south on Dodds Avenue.
Police said the driver, Ladd, appeared to be trying to drive away. He was quickly handcuffed.
Officers said, after he was placed in a patrol car, it appeared that he had narcotics in his mouth. Chunks of a powdery substance were found near him on the seat.
Police said he had no insurance and a revoked driver's license. He also had a warrant for theft. The new charges include reckless driving, running a red light, not having insurance, possession of a controlled substance and tampering with evidence.

At the McDonald's on Rossville Boulevard, a black female was unhappy with the quality of her food.
She was given replacement food three times, but she only ate half of the last offering and asked for a refund.
The woman was told that since she had eaten half, she could not have her money back.
She threw the remaining food at the manager and left cursing in a Chevy Cobalt.

Police were called to the Raceway on Signal Mountain Road when management said they were having problems with a terminated worker.
It was claimed that Jennifer Holder was unset that her pay could not be altered so she could collect food stamps.

On Towne Hills Lane, Laura Puryear said her ex-husband, Tyler Puryear, had killed a kitten in his anger.
She said he had planned to go to bed, but the kittens were too noisy. She said he picked up one and threw it against a wall.
She said they are divorced, but they are on and off and he sometimes stops by.

An officer who was directing traffic on Broad Street during IRONMAN said a woman drove up at 20th Street in a newer model Ford Fusion.
He said she had a turn signal on and appeared to be turning, but did not do so. He said she stayed on Broad Street as the bicyclists approached. He said he frantically tried to get her to move as the bikers got nearer and began veering around her.
He said she then darted across the closed street. He said a woman poked her head out of the window and shouted racial slurs. He identified the woman making the slurs as Inah Gardner.

Police responded to a disorder at 5000 Rossville Blvd.
Bobby Rogers and Kristi Clayton said they were "arguing over the daily stress."
They were tired from carrying large amounts of power tools.
