Sheehan, Daniel (Cleveland)

Daniel Sheehan, 78, of Cleveland, TN, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2015. 

He was the son of the late Olive Sheehan of Mt. Pleasant, OH.  Dan was a member of Westwood Baptist Church in Cleveland, TN. He was active volunteer as shuttle driver of one of the golf carts that brought the guest from the parking lot. To some, he appeared shy but he loved the interacting with the guests as he drove them to the door of the church. Dan considered the highlight of his collegiate football career was when the 1958 University of Chattanooga Moccasins upset the University of Tennessee Volunteers in Knoxville by a score of 14-6. He retired from Georgia Pacific. 

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Faye Griffith Sheehan; his children, Byron Sheehan (Tara) of Lawrenceville, GA, Eric Sheehan (Annette) of Senoia, GA and Kim Sheehan Hooper (Mark) of Reliance, TN; two grandchildren, Bo Sheehan and Jordan Sheehan of Senoia, GA; a special cousin, who was raised like a sister, Toni Ishmael (Richard) of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Life will be held at Westwood Baptist Church located 4001 Georgetown Road in Cleveland, TN on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. with the Reverend Nolen Phillips and the Reverend Richard Richter officiating. 

The family will received friends at the church on Wednesday, Oct. 6 from 4-7 p.m.

The interment will take place on Thursday, Oct. 8 at 11 a.m. in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. The funeral procession will leave the Westwood Baptist Church parking lot at 10:30 a.m. Serving as honorary pallbearers are the former teammates and members of the 1958 University of Chattanooga Football Team. 

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to either Westwood Baptist Church or to Hospice of Chattanooga in Dan’s memory.
