BRASELTON, Ga.---It was a record-setting day for the Chattanooga Mocs women’s golf team at the Fall Invitational. The team and senior Emily McLennan posted new marks for 36-hole score torching Chateau Elan Resort.

The Mocs’ 12-under 564 is 13 strokes clear of the previous record of 577 (+1) set at the 2014 Web.com Intercollegiate.

McLennan’s day is one shot ahead of Jordan Britt’s (2011-14) pace at the same event.

“Better,” coach Colette Murray said. “I’m very proud of the way we played today. Now we need to close. We’re looking forward to getting back out there in the morning.”

Chattanooga’s record day puts it atop the leaderboard with a two-stroke advantage over Middle Tennessee (566). Ole Miss is five back in third at 569.

The Mocs opened with a 284 (-5) before coming in at 280 (-8) in the afternoon. Those are the fifth and second-best rounds in school history, respectively.

McLennan is in second with her twin 68s putting here at 8-under. That’s one off the pace set by the Rebels’ Abby Newton. Isabella Loza is tied for third at -4.

The senior duo each turned in bogey-free cards. McLennan had four birdies and 14 pars in the morning, while Loza had two birdies and a career-high-tying 16 pars over the second 18.

Cris Perez tallied back-to-back 71s. She makes it three Mocs in the top 10 tied for sixth at 2-under 142.

Megan Woods opened with a 75 but came back with a career-best 71 for a 146 total. Monica San Juan had the drop scores carding 78 and 76.

The final round is an 8 a.m., shotgun start. The Mocs are paired with the Blue Raiders and Rebels with the fives opening on holes 1-4.
