Herbert Crockett
Herbert C. Crockett, 87, of Chattanooga, died on Sunday, October 4, 2015.
A native of Etowah, he had been a resident of the Chattanooga area most of his life. He was retired from the U.S. Post Office and was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army. After retirement he enjoyed square dancing for many years, working outside around his house and property. He especially loved horses and horseback riding.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Moates Crockett; son, Jeffrey David Crockett; brothers, Troy Crockett and David, Crockett, Jr.; sisters, Sue and Pauline Crockett.
Survivors include his son, Travis (Julie) Crockett, daughter, Janet Crockett, Pasadena, CA; two grandchildren, Bailey and Allie Hannah; two sisters, Sharon Crockett and Mae Crockett; brother, Deward Crockett; several nieces and nephews, as well as his girlfriend of many years, Jean Wiley.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 7, in the Green Hill Cemetery in Etowah with the Reverend Mark Wade officiating.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
