Fredrick Battle
A man has been arrested for intimidation of a witness in a pending domestic assault case after he allegedly took the victim to a funeral home, showed her several caskets, stating that she was going to end up in one if she showed up to court.
On Thursday, the victim told officers that Fredrick Battle, 52, had been threatening her and was in her home on the 2100 block of Chamberlain Avenue.
She said that an order of protection had been ordered as a result of another case in which the defendant allegedly assaulted the victim.
When officers attempted to make contact with the defendant, he refused to answer the door. A woman retrieved the spare key to the front door and the officers made entry, found the defendant and took him into custody.
When asked why he didn’t come to the door, he said, “I didn’t want to answer for you.” He also told officers he had been drinking that night.
The victim told officers that the defendant had threatened her continuously leading up to the domestic assault case which is set for next month. She told them about the funeral home incident and informed them that he had threatened to kill her before.
She also said that the defendant had been taken her monthly $733 social security check and only bought her $20 worth of hotdogs, lunch meat, and bread.
Finally, she told officers that he had hit and choked her since the original incident and was now scared for her life if she did not comply with what he wanted.
