Willa Cox
Willa Louise Andrews Cox died on Monday, October 12, 2015.
Willa was an only child born on Sept. 12, 1926, and was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga. A 1944 graduate of Central High School with the Commerce Award, she entered the TVA secretarial training course and worked as a certified professional secretary until 1970. In 1976 she opened a Century 21 real estate office and worked there until she sold the company in 1988.
In 1989 Willa began a new venture as a mortgage originator until her final retirement in 2000.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Judge William H. Cox, Jr. and son, Doug Cox.
She is survived by her son, retired District Attorney Bill Cox, and wife, Pat, Chattanooga; daughter, Denise Walden and husband, Marvin, of Ooltewah; daughter-in-law, Sue Cox; grandchildren, Tracy Cox (James) Brooks, Will (Dr. Tonia) Cox, Spencer Douglas (Dawn) Cox, Jr., Joshua Andrews (India) Cox, Blaine (Lorna) Walden, Andrew (Lindsey) Walden; and great-grandchildren, Jake and Sara Brooks, Emma and Isabelle Cox, Caliope and Creed Cox and Ava Rose Walden.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15, in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with Reverend Leigh C. Preston officiating. Burial will follow in the church gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church or Hospice of Chattanooga.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 4-8 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 E. Brainerd Road, and from 1-2 p.m. on Thursday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
