The Federalization Of Driver's Licenses - And Response (2)

  • Sunday, October 11, 2015

I've heard others mention this, but I happened to be at the driver's license building, and noticed that everyone had uniforms on.  On the door going in was was a sign saying Department of Homeland Security.

Since when has getting a driver's license become a federal function?  I thought driver's licenses issuance was a state function.

Whatever it is, I don't like it.  Comments please.

Mr. Foley,

If you had bothered to ask someone at the Driver’s License office, they would have told you that the Tennessee Depart of Safety was renamed the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security several years ago.  The federal government has not taken over the process.

Howard Cook, maybe Mr. Foley should have asked about the name change but your response seemed a bit condescending.  This could have been a peaceful learning experience for all instead of a put down.

The country as a whole needs to be kinder to each other.
