Mildred “Midge” Stephens, 86, of Chattanooga, died on Thursday, January 29, 2015.

She was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area and served as the bookkeeper in the family business Stephens and Son Construction. She was a member of New Salem Baptist Church. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Millard Lee Stephens; siblings, Lyndell Davidson, Betty Curtis and Virginia Jo Cagle.

Mildred is survived by her children, Bob Stephens and Phyllis (Marvin) Morrison; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; sister, Rosa Lee McAbee; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 1, and 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Monday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. 

A celebration of life service will follow at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 2, at the funeral home chapel with Reverend Joseph Hardin officiating.  Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to thank the staff and nurses with Hospice of Chattanooga for their love and support given to the family. They have asked that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Chattanooga at 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37416. 

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
