Shakespeare Chattanooga Kicks Off Three-Play Reading Series Feb. 15

  • Wednesday, January 28, 2015

Shakespeare Chattanooga kicks off a three-play reading series on Sunday, Feb. 15, at its new permanent home, The Highland Center in Brainerd, with the star-crossed love story of Romeo & Juliet.

Directed by Stephanie Smith, who also directed the applauded scene from the play featured when Shakespeare Chattanooga guested with the CSO in October, the cast includes Jonathan Goff, Jessie Knowles, Dakota Brown, Holli Hutson, Steven Disbrow, Robbye Lewis, Greg Glover, Bob Roza, Maya Disbrow, Logan Disbrow, and Smith.

“We are delighted to announce that this reading series marks the start of a permanent association with the Highland Center,” said SC Producing Director Janis Hashe.

“I am also helping the Center raise money and volunteer time to fully restore the exquisite auditorium it houses, and hope to be able to stage a full-length show there, possibly as soon as summer 2015.”

Meanwhile, SC will also read Julius Caesar on Mar. 15 (Ides of March), directed by Ms. Hashe, and All’s Well That Ends Well  on April 23 (Shakespeare’s birthday), directed by Ms. Smith.

The Highland Center is located in the former 21st Century Academy magnet school; prior to that, the building was Brainerd Junior High. It is now privately owned and more and more community programming is being made possible there.

There is a $5 suggested donation. For more information, contact Janis Hashe at (423) 622-2862 or jhashe@epbfi.com.
