Robert Emmit Luzier, 90, of Rock Spring, Georgia, died on Monday, January 26, 2015.

He was born in Parsons, West Virginia to the late John and Alice Caroline Bohon Luzier. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He served from 1942 – 1962 and retired from the U.S. Navy where he attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer. While in the U.S. Navy he earned five Good Conduct Medals, Nations Service Medal, Occupation Ribbon, Korean Presidential Citation, Korean Service Medal, United Defense Medal and several other commendations. After his service to our country, he worked at Warner Robbins Air Force Base as Police Captain from 1962 – 1969. Mr.Luzier then worked with the Georgia Department of Corrections as a Warden. He also worked at The Daily Citizen News in Dalton as the Circulation Manager from 1975 to 1988. He had resided for the past thirty years in the Rock Spring community where he was a member of Rock Spring United Methodist Church. He was a member of the LaFayette Rotary Club and the Western Masonic Lodge F&AM #91.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Cosner Luzier, siblings, Muriel Price, Bessie Heckler, Evonne Luzier, Ronald Luzier, Richard Luzierand Carl Luzier.

He is survived by his children, Cheryl (Robert) Allen of Alpharetta, Michael (Cheryl) Luzier of Macon, Brian Luzier of Ringgold, sisters, Lela Noel of Virginia, Frieda Rhinehart of West Virginia, nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, Jan. 30, from 6-9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. prior to the funeral.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31, at Rock Spring United Methodist Church with Chaplain Ellis officiating and Ben Kiker and George Huey speaking. Burial will follow in LaFayette Memory Gardens – LaFayette.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research at Grand Central Station – P.O. Box 4777 – New York, NY 10163-4777.
