Danny Lebron Gentry, 81, of Ooltewah, Tennessee, died on January 23, 2015 in a local hospital.

He was a faithful husband and father, and a dearly beloved Grandpa. He was born June 28, 1933 in Chattanooga, a son of the late W.W. Gentry, Sr. and Melba Bailey Gentry.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Gentry.

Mr. Gentry served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Ooltewah Baptist Church. Mr. Gentry joined his father and brother in the family business, Gentry Steel, where he worked until his retirement in 2001.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Sara Patricia “Pat” Gentry; children, Carol (George) Fincher, Kay G. Steele, Bill (Linda) Gentry and Tim (Darice) Gentry; brother, W.W. “Bud” Gentry, Jr.; sister, Louise Gentry Sprayberry; 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 1. There will be a private graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House or the charity of your choice.
