Author’s Panel- Out of Nowhere: The Explosion of Young Adult Speculative Fiction
YA has always had a place in speculative fiction and has produced classic stories, such as A Wrinkle in Time and The Hobbit, which sparked many a fan’s early interest in sci-fi and fantasy. In recent years there has been a surge in YA speculative fiction, to the point that YA books are dominating the bestseller lists and film. In this panel, the authors will discuss why YA is enjoying such robust success, and what the publishing world, and, more importantly, the readers, are looking for from YA authors. Mr. French will share the discussion with Donna Driver, Adam-Troy Castro and M.B. Weston.

Author’s Panel- Independent Author Marketing and the Future of Publishing
The writing world is one where change is the rule, not the exception. Except for the putting the story in your head on paper (or a computer screen) part, nothing in the profession of writing stays the same for long - especially in the realm of marketing and publishing. Our panelists will shed light on some of the newest methods for author promotion and publication. Mr. French will share the discussion with Tobias Buckell, M.B. Weston and Allan Gilbreath.
