Upcoming Events At Southern Include Visit By Shaunti Feldhahn

Here are upcoming visits at Southern Adventist University:

Southern Adventist University will host speaker Shaunti Feldhahn on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Iles PE Center and 7:30 p.m. in Thatcher Chapel.  Ms. Feldhahn, a social researcher and best-selling author, will speak on “Being Life-Ready” and share her knowledge about relationships, both at home and in the workplace. The event is free and open to the public. 

Ms. Feldhahn is the author of For Women Only, which has sold more than 2 million copies in 23 languages. Other works include The Surprising Secrets of Highly Happy Marriages and The Good News About Marriage. Feldhahn’s findings have been featured on The Today Show, Focus on the Family, The New York Times and MomLife Today.

Southern Adventist University will host speaker Jim Nestler, PhD, on Thursday, Feb. 12, for a 7:30 p.m. presentation in the Hulsey Wellness Center, Room 3135 as part of the Biology Department’s E.O. Grundset Lecture Series.  Dr. Nestler, director of the Rosario Beach Marine Laboratory and professor of biology at Walla Walla University, will present a research seminar titled, “Sea Cucumbers: Rotting and Regenerating Zombies of the Sea.” The event is free and open to the public. 

Dr. Nestler will discuss California sea cucumbers and how the degradation and regeneration of their internal organs may have implications for the research in the regeneration of human internal organs.

Southern Adventist University will host speaker Delatorro McNeal on Thursday, Feb. 12, at 11 a.m. in the Iles PE Center and 7:30 p.m. in Thatcher Chapel. McNeal as he presents on “How to Write Your Own Ticket in College and Beyond.” The event is free and open to the public. 

Mr. McNeal is an internationally renowned peak performance expert, keynote speaker, and best-selling author. His mission is to help individuals and organizations grow to the next level. He has authored six books and more than dozen personal growth and professional development courses.

Southern Adventist University will host violinist Bella Hristova on Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 7:30 p.m. in Ackerman Auditorium in Mabel Wood Hall. Tickets are $5 for adults and $12 for a family. 

Known for her powerful performances, Ms. Hristova is a young musician with a growing international career as a soloist and recording artist. She received the 2013 Avery Fisher Career Grant, which is given to outstanding instrumentalists and based on excellence alone. Hristova has performed in many prestigious venues, received numerous prizes and awards, and has been praised by the Washington Post as “a player of impressive power and control.”
