Georgia Northwestern Falls To Southern Crescent Tech

A very cold spell early in the second half doomed the Georgia Northwestern Bobcats on Friday night as they dropped a 74-49 decision to the Southern Crescent Tech Tigers in Griffin.

Georgia Northwestern (6-12) went into halftime trailing by just six points, 32-26, but did not connect on a single shot in the first seven minutes of the second half.

The Tigers opened up a 48-33 lead with 11:30 to play. The Bobcats cut the deficit to 10 later in the half, but got no closer.

Georgia Northwestern shot just 29 percent from the field for the game and was just 38 percent at the free throw line. Southern Crescent also found its range in the second half, connecting on 5-of-6 from behind the arc after going 1-of-18 in the first half.

Cody Cochran led the Bobcats with 15 points, followed by 13 points and seven rebounds from Dustin Stanley. Cameron Sherlin added nine points, Veshawn Bell five and Devin Watkiins four. Tyler Shropshire had three points and grabbed a team-high nine boards.

Both Georgia Northwestern teams will be at home on Monday night against the Bryan College JV squads, starting with the women's game at 6 p.m.
