96 People Participate In Naturalization Ceremonies At The Federal Courthouse

Naturalization ceremonies were held on Wednesday at the Federal Courthouse, Chattanooga, at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. with United State Magistrate Judge Bill Carter presiding.

96 people from 25 different countries were presented to the Court by Patricia Schoneck, followed by the taking of the took the Oath of Allegiance to the United States of America administered by Kelli 
Jones to become this country’s latest naturalized citizens. JROTC members from both East Ridge 
and Hixson High Schools advanced and retired colors.

Judge Carter delivered welcoming remarks to the citizens, followed by a welcome from the Daughters of the American Revolution, Lee Parham, Regent of Chickamauga Chapter DAR presenting.

Favors including the Oath of Allegiance, the American’s Creed, the Pledge to the flag and a flag pin were handed out following the ceremony by Chickamauga Chapter members. 

Refreshments were served by the Chief John Ross Chapter,DAR. The five DAR chapters in Chattanooga participate in Naturalization ceremonies throughout the year. In addition to Chickamauga and Chief John Ross Chapters, they include Nancy Ward, Moccasin Bend and Judge David Campbell chapters.
