Some residents on Lookout Mountain were temporarily without water after a major water line break Friday at 10 a.m. on the side of the mountain.

The break was repaired shortly before 8 p.m. and water was turned back on.

Customers at the top of Lookout Mountain were not affected.

Customers around Winterview Lane and Scenic Highway were the ones affected.

Tennessee American Water officials said, "A crew is welding the main which is a steel main. Steel is a material that is used on pipes that are under constant high pressure such as a main going up a mountain."

Officials said, "Boiling water is not necessary. When the welding is complete, we will begin the process of turning the water back on."
