School Of Theology Hosts Lecture On Blood And The Holy Spirit

  • Thursday, January 22, 2015

Dr. Eugene F. Rogers Jr. will give a lecture titled "Fire in the Wine: How Does the Blood of Christ Carry the Holy Spirit?" on Feb. 10 in Hargrove Auditorium, Hamilton Hall at 7 p.m. There will be a reception for Rogers following his lecture. Everyone is invited to attend.

Dr. Rogers will explain that the New Testament mentions the blood of Christ three times as often as his "cross," and five times as often as his "death." He will also explore the question—if the Holy Spirit characteristically rests on the body of Christ, how does she rest in his blood?

Dr. Rogers is the professor of religious studies and program faculty in women's and gender studies at University of North Carolina in Greensboro. Educated at Princeton, Tübingen, Rome, and Yale, he taught at Yale College and Divinity School, Shaw University Divinity School, St. Anselm College, and, from 1993 to 2005, at the University of Virginia.
