TVA, Local Power Companies Unveil New ‘eScore’ Home Energy Program

  • Monday, January 12, 2015

Homeowners looking to make the most of their energy dollar have a powerful new tool at their disposal. eScore, an innovative home energy efficiency program developed through a partnership with local power companies and the Tennessee Valley Authority, is now available across the Valley.

Through rebates on eligible upgrades installed by TVA’s Quality Contractor Network members and a personalized improvement plan, eScore allows homeowners to work through a range of scored efficiency improvements – from attic insulation to heat pump water heaters  ?  toward a score of 10 at their own pace.

Consumers can re-engage with the program as many times as needed over time to achieve their home’s best possible energy performance. Financing will be offered in many cases.

“We designed eScore to be beneficial to anyone who owns a home because it lets you know exactly what you need to do to make your home more energy efficient,” said Cindy Herron, vice president for TVA’s EnergyRight Solutions. “By combining expert advice with rebates on improvements that are installed, eScore can provide an easy and impactful way to reduce utility bills in every season.”

eScore builds on the success of the In-Home Energy Evaluation program, which was retired in October after completing more than 85,000 evaluations. And like that original program, eScore highlights the advantages of the partnership between TVA and local power companies to serve more than nine million people throughout the valley.

“The goal of every public power company is providing customers with safe, reliable electricity at the lowest possible cost,” said Frank Rapley, senior manager for TVA EnergyRight Solutions for the Home. “By working together to bring eScore to homeowners, TVA and local power companies are helping to fulfill that promise by making it easier than ever for homeowners to improve their energy efficiency, live comfortably and save money on their energy bills.”

The program is one of several efforts TVA is making to improve the efficiency of the TVA system and control energy demand, particularly during peak power conditions.

There are two paths for customers to access the eScore program. Customers may elect to register online at www.2escore.com, select a contractor from the Quality Contractor Network list, and begin choosing the energy efficiency upgrades they desire, such as attic insulation, duct sealing, air sealing or window replacement.

Or, customers can call 1-855-2eScore (1-855-237-2673) to register and schedule an energy evaluation of their home for a fee. After the evaluation, they can then select a contractor from the QCN list to make those recommended upgrades.
