Laney, Homer "Erby"

Homer "Erby" Laney, 74, of Fort Oglethorpe, died on Tuesday, September 30, 2014.

He was born in Jackson County, Al., to the late Homer Garrison and Melvie Jones Laney, but had lived in the North Georgia area for the last 43 years. He was a member of the Fort Oglethorpe Church of Christ and was the owner and operator of Tri County Roofing for more than 40 years. He enjoyed fishing and coached for several local recreational leagues. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Pat Light Laney; son, David Dewayne Laney; two brothers, Harland and Alfred Laney and sister, Lee Rossbury.

Survivors include his son, Tim Laney; sister, Renette Camp both of Fort Oglethorpe, and two grandsons, Joshua David Laney and Derrick Scott Laney.

Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4, at the Fort Oglethorpe Church of Christ with Minister C.G. Griffith officiating. Burial will be private.

The family will receive friends on Saturday before the service from 12–4 p.m. at the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel of Wilson Funeral Homes.
