Chattanooga Bach Choir Opens Its 2015-2016 Season Oct. 12

  • Tuesday, September 30, 2014

The Chattanooga Bach Choir under director David Long will open its 2015-16 season on Sunday, October 12, at 4:30 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church with a performance of Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem, Op. 47, and J.S. Bach’s Cantata: BWV 106, Actus Tragicus. Also on the program is Elgar’s Sospiri, Op. 70, performed by violinist and Huntsville Symphony Orchestra Concertmaster Mark Reneau with Organist Karla Fowkes of Christ Church Episcopal.

The concert is performed in memory of the late J. James “Jim” Greasby. Jim founded the Chattanooga Bach Choir in 1985 and served as its director for 20 years. "Proud of the ensemble and its quality work, he felt the choir to be one of his most meaningful contributions to society," organizers said.

The 2014-15 season marks the 30th anniversary of the choir as well as the choir’s 10-year anniversary under the leadership of conductor David Long.
