Charles McSpadden, 79, of Cleveland, TN, passed away on Friday afternoon, September 26, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family.
Charles was born on May 6th, 1935 a son of the late Everett McSpadden and Hilma McSpadden Paris. He was a member of Valley View Baptist Church. Charles worked for 20 plus years at Sears Roebuck in Chattanooga before he and his late wife Fay founded and started Apple Valley Orchards in Cleveland. He was a lifelong avid Vols fan but his greatest joy was his two grandchildren and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Fay Burchfield McSpadden; one sister, Louise; and one brother, Luke McSpadden.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Chuck & Joy McSpadden; two grandchildren, Caitlin and Charlie McSpadden; one sister, Evelyn Dixon; and numerous other extended family members, church family, Apple Valley family and special friends.
A celebration of his life is planned for Tuesday, September 30 at 2 p.m. at the Valley View Baptist Church located at 4657 Spring Place Road in Cleveland, with the Reverend Ron Roudebush officiating. Interment will follow in the Moores Chapel Cemetery with John Gilliland, Kim Frady, Roy Green, Miguel Ruiz, Jose Ortiz and Pascual Ruiz serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 29 at the church from 4-7 p.m. and also one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, September 30.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made in Charles’ memory to the Valley View Baptist Church food bank.
