Rachel Coleman
On Saturday the Chattanooga Down Syndrome Society will welcome Rachel Coleman from the popular Signing Time DVD series for their biggest event of the year. Ms. Coleman, who is responsible for helping thousands of children learn sign language during their infant and toddler years, will help kick off the annual Buddy Walk at AT&T Field at 10 a.m.
Every year, the CDSS welcomes thousands of individuals with Down syndrome, their loved ones and supporters to walk and raise awareness of the endless possibilities that are available to those living with DS today. Ms. Coleman, and her sidekick Hopkins, will perform before the walk and then meet and greet participants. A short walk beginning on Power Alley will lead dozens of teams back to AT&T Field where food, fun, and festivities await. "This is a great opportunity for families to meet each other and learn about the resources available in our community," officials said.
Before the walk, supporters are encouraged to form teams and get their families and friends involved in the fundraising effort.
Find or register your team at https://www.ds-stride.org/chattanoogabuddywalk/. Money raised from fundraising efforts stays in the greater Chattanooga community to provide grants, scholarships and events for those with DS in this area.
