The City of Chattanooga's Public Works Waste Resources Division has recognized Lifetouch National School Studios as this year's Pretreatment Excellence Award winner. The annual award is given by the city to a manufacturer that has efficiently operated and maintained their wastewater pretreatment system for process wastewater before it is discharged into city sewers. Lifetouch has had no violations of their wastewater discharge permit in 2013 and so far in 2014.
Lifetouch does photographic processing such as school portraits,special event finishing, league sports and proms.
Lifetouch's wastewater pretreatment system uses a silver recovery system with electrolytic processors/ion exchange columns and pH neutralization.
Officials said, "Lifetouch is considered a leader in environmental compliance in the City of Chattanooga with their proven track record. David Crum (plant manager) and Bobby Gray (technical manager) and their team are dedicated to ensure environmental protection,which is evident by the wastewater pretreatment they provide,and the clean water that's discharged as a result."
