Byron Houston McCabe, 90, of Cleveland, TN, passed away Saturday, September 20, 2014 in a local health care facility.
Mr. McCabe was the son of the late Mollie and Gilbert McCabe; and was also preceded in death by his son, Earl Houston McCabe; his sisters, Margaret McClendon and Mina Fugate; and his brothers, Gilbert and Perry McCabe.
Mr. McCabe was a truck driver most of his life, working for a moving company in California. He was an avid golfer playing mostly at Cherokee Springs Golf Course (Waterville Golf Course). He enjoyed restoring old cars. Mr. McCabe was a member of the Shenandoah Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille McCabe of Cleveland; his grandson, Michael Houston McCabe and his wife Carrie of Cleveland; his great-grandsons, Bo and Luke McCabe of Cleveland; his sisters, Ann Walker, Eileen Craighead and Stella King and her husband Howard all of Rhea County, TN; his sisters-in-law, Christine McCabe and Betty McCabe; and several nieces and nephews.
The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted Tuesday, September 23, at 2 p.m. from the Wildwood Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes with Pastor Brent Coley officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. Tuesday, September 23 before the services at the Wildwood Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes who has charge of the arrangements.
