Betty Robertson
Betty Robertson

Betty Louise Robertson, aspiring singer, wonderful cook (when she was in the mood), mother to Carolyn Brindle and Justin Robertson, and very proud grandmother to her only grandson, Toby Kearney, happily passed to other side on September 16, 2014.

Betty always enjoyed music and had quite the singing voice. As a young teen, she had the opportunity to be a part of the legendary Chet Atkins entourage. However, circumstances at that time (she was 12) dictated otherwise.  Although obviously disappointed, Betty continued to sing at church and more importantly on the radio and for the troops during World War II.

Some of her favorite musical artists include: Dwight Yoakam, Green Day and Cheap Trick, Warren Zevon, and Jackson Browne.

Betty also enjoyed movies, particularly fond of horror movies, good or bad. She really liked a more recent movie entitled “Paul” and even after her passing enjoyed such while we all watched.

Christmas was a special time, she enjoyed all the festivities…decorating the tree, wrapping the gifts, preparing the food, watching the movie Elf, A Christmas Story, Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, and just about anything on the Hallmark channel.  It was a great time of the year for her because soon after, it was another celebration with her birthday!

She loved flowers.  A garden full and vase in house was always the norm.

Mom absolutely loved New York City. She also enjoyed Niagara Falls and the ghost tours in Savannah.

Betty loved to laugh.  Sporting a wonderful and sometimes devious smile, she would gladly go along with a practical joke…she also authored a few and had us to carry out the deed.  You go mom!

Betty was a down-to-earth woman who really did not care for the uppity types.  We can see her rolling her eyes as if to say “really, jeans and T’s work just fine.”  She did fancy a red coat during the winter months.  She did not partake of spirits or smokes but was not judgmental for those who did.

We know that our loving mother and best friend is now happily with our father, Harold, whom passed some time ago and we are glad they are once again together.

We love you and will always carry our memories as we travel our roads….

A small family service occurred on Sept. 17, complete with pizza and wine…she would have heartily approved.

The remaining family members include a sister, Judy Spencer and her family, and a brother, Clarence Wynn.

Carolyn, Toby, and Justin thank all those who have expressed their condolences.

In lieu of flowers, mom would have liked a donation to an animal charity of your choice in her name. We are going to miss you, mom….you were an amazing woman.

PEACE
