Buddy Steele
William Henry “Buddy” Steele, 80, of South Pittsburg, Tennessee died on Friday, September 19, 2014 after an extended illness.
“Buddy” or “Buckjack” as he was often called, was the son of the late William Clarence and Mable Mae Wilson Steele. He worked at the U.S. Stove Foundry for over 20 years and retired from Moss Motor Company after many years of service.
He was also preceded in death by his sister, Bessie Francis Whitmire and brother, James Wesley (Dub) Steele, Sr.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Joyce Bookout Steele of South Pittsburg; daughters, Pat (Roy) Steele Rankin of Bridgeport, AL, Donna (Doug) Smith of South Pittsburg; grandchildren, Will and Zac Rankin both of Bridgeport, AL and Heather Smith, of South Pittsburg; sisters, Margaret (David) Gallaher and Peggy Sue (James) Daniels; brothers, J.T. “T Bone” (Tamina) Steele, Don (Tracey) Steele, Sr., of Bridgeport, AL and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home on Monday, Sept. 22, at 11 a.m. with Reverend Ronnie Case and Reverend Joe David Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, Sept. 20 from 5-8 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 21, from 12-8pm Central Time at the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral home.
