The East Ridge Parks and Recreation and the city of East Ridge are presenting a free concert series at Camp Jordan Park at I-75, Exit 1 on Saturday at 7 p.m. featuring “The Beaters.” The second edition of Camp Jordan Jams is on the park’s Amphitheatre stage at 323 Camp Jordan Road in East Ridge.
Camp Jordan Jams was created to bring people together for fun, fellowship, music and good food.
Parks and Recreation Director Stump Martin said, "Nobody throws a party like the Beaters and they have promised to throw a big one for Camp Jordan Jams. All people will need are chairs and blankets.”
Mr. Martin said Camp Jordan Jams is a gift from the city to the community and he wants to see the concert series grow to be the safe happening place in the area for people to gather to socialize and have fun.
“Camp Jordan Jams is going to run this fall and if the concert series is a success we will schedule more free concerts in April, May and June of 2015,” Mr. Martin said. “Grab your family and friends and come enjoy one of the most entertaining musical groups to ever perform in the Chattanooga area.”
The first Camp Jordan Jams concert featured Nashville’s Travis Dukes, who performed to a small group on stage with him on Aug. 30 when the series was washed out by a deluge of rain.
The Beaters are one of the Chattanooga area’s all-time favorite bands. The popular group is in the Chattanooga Music Hall of Fame and originated on Good Friday in 1985 with a performance at the historic Brass Registrar in downtown Chattanooga.
"The Beaters have a strong following of loyal fans and their music takes many of us on a memorable journey throughout our lives," Mr. Martin said. "They have been entertaining crowds by playing popular rock sounds from the 60's, 70's and 80's for more than 29 years."
