Vern Curry, 69, of Spencer, TN, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2014.
He was a member of Mt. Crest United Methodist Church. He was a United States Air Force veteran serving during the Vietnam Conflict. Vern was the current Post Commander of American Legion Post #207 in Spencer, TN and a member of Fidelity Lodge #10 F.&A.M, San Diego, CA.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ben Evans; uncles, Allen Curry and Kelly Robertson; grandmother, Luella Eubanks; and father-in-law, Sydney C. Finley, Jr.
Vern is survived by wife, Pamela Finley Curry, of Spencer; children, Ronald (Demetra) McNair, Cooper City, FL, Byron Curry, Chicago, Tamika Martin Garrett (Roosevelt), Addison, IL, John Michael (Grace) Curry, Fresno, CA and Vernor (Vanessa) Curry Jr., Gary, IN; grandchildren, Kailey Curry, Christa McNair, Katali Curry, Waataevin Curry, Alexis Roxas, Melane Roxas, Marvin Roxas, Malik Turner, Tywan and Jamel; several great-grandchildren; mother, Paralee Johnson, Saginaw, MI; siblings, Joe (Hattie) Wade, Miller, IN, Linda Curry, Rochester, MI, Susan Curry, San Diego, CA; and Wiley Curry, Atlanta; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services will be Saturday, September 20, at 10 a.m. CDT at Mt. Crest UMC. Final resting place will be the Knoxville Cemetery, Knoxville, IL.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
Visitation will be 4:30-7:30 p.m. CDT Thursday, September 18, at the Reed Funeral Home, who has charge of the arrangements.
