The Southern Lit Alliance hosts Alice Smith, a poet from Lookout Mountain, Tn., at the Hunter Museum of American Art on Tuesday, Sept. 23 from 5:30-7:30 p.m., for “An Evening with Alice Smith.” Mrs. Smith will read from her work and will be available for a book signing. Her two volumes of poetry will be available for purchase at the event.
Currently, Ms. Smith lives on Lookout Mountain with her husband Alfred and their dog Leroy. Together they have four children and three grandchildren, with a fourth on the way in October.
Mrs. Smith was co-owner of Southside Grill for many years and has enjoyed retirement ever since selling the restaurant.
Mrs. Smith’s books include I Wonder… and A Place Where Secret Shadows Shine. "In her poetry, the writer turns ordinary, everyday occurrences into sacred and beautiful moments. Mrs. Smith also composes from her own internal reflections and personal stories. Both volumes capture the mystery of human experience and spirit," organizers said.
“An Evening with Alice Smith” is free and open to the public. A cash bar will be available.
