Nieding, Kathy Dianne Smith (Cleveland)

Kathy Dianne Smith Nieding, 51, of Cleveland, TN, died unexpectedly Friday morning, August 29, 2014 at her home. 

Dianne was an Army wife for many years and lived in Germany, San Francisco, San Antonio, and other bases with her family.  She came back to Cleveland in 1992 and worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Hall until disabled by seizures. She loved animals and always wanted to help a dog or cat in distress.  She loved her family, home, and her dog, Gizmo, who was her constant companion. She will be missed tremendously by her family and friends for her giving personality, cheerful smile, and willingness to help.


Dianne was preceded in death by her brother, David Lynn Smith; and father, Willie C. Smith.


She is survived by her mother, Vivian S. Price of Cleveland; two sons, Jeffrey Scott Nieding and wife Kara of Little Rock, AR and Jacob Aaron Nieding and wife, Brandi of James Island, S.C.; and uncle, Danny Brown of Delano.


A graveside service is planned for Wednesday, September 3 at 2 p.m. in the Benton Memorial Gardens.


The family will receive friends in the chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 2419 Georgetown Road in Cleveland, TN on Wednesday, September 3 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. prior to leaving for the graveside and committal service at 2 p.m.


The family requests that memorials be made to The Epilepsy Foundation.


Companion Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
