She was born on Sept. 9, 1924, in Abingdon, Va., to the late Tom and Lucille Garvey Maiden.  Dot graduated from Abingdon High School and then moved to Chattanooga to attend the Baroness Erlanger School of Nursing, graduating as a RN in 1945.  She married John Guinn Palmer in 1947 until his death in 1955 and then married to Harley Stoe until his death.  Dot attended Concord Baptist Church for 70 years, where she was a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class and the B.A.L.L. Club.

Survivors include her two loving and devoted sons, whom she adored greatly, Don (Rosemary) Palmer and Mike (Jackie) Palmer; her loving grandchildren, Tracy (Robert) Manning, Kristi (Chad) Smallen and Doug Palmer; her precious great-grandchildren, Andrew, Allie and Shelby Manning, Natalie and Brock Smallen, all of Chattanooga; sister, Bonnie Cunningham, Abingdon, Va.; brothers, Harry Maiden, Florence, Al., and Wayne Maiden, Chattanooga; several nieces and nephews and her dear friend for over 65 years, Doris Chastain.

Her loving and generous spirit was spread throughout with all her friends and fellow nurses, but no more could it be shown than with the love she had for her children and grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 2, in Greenwood Cemetery with Reverend David King officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Concord Baptist Church Building Fund, 7025 East Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, Tn. 37421.
