Violet “Vi” Frances Richerson
Violet “Vi” Frances Richerson, of Chattanooga, died on Friday, August 29, 2014.
Vi was born on April 23, 1920 and was a native of Chattanooga, having returned here after living in San Francisco, for 39 years. A graduate of Chattanooga High School, Vi was a Baptist and an avid traveler, having been in all 50 states, European Countries, Mexico, Caribbean and Canada. She was very active in political affairs, belonging to the League of Women Voters and other activities in California.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Deane W. Richerson, and her parents, C.M. and Beulah Stoner, and a sister Bernice Stoner DeFriese.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Doris Russell, as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephew, Joe (Barbara) Wollam and niece, Stephanie Stowe.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 2, in Hamilton Memorial Gardens with her nephew, Joe Wollam officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society at: cancer.org, in honor of her husband, Deane W. Richerson or to your favorite charity.
