World War II Veteran Retired From The Crane Company After 40 Years

Carl E. Campbell, 93, of Rossville, died on Thursday, August 28, 2014. 

He was a lifelong resident of Rossville and was a United States Army veteran having served during World War II in Hawaii, New Guinea, Philippines, and Korea.  He was a charter member of the North Chattanooga Church of God having helped build the Church and serve as Sunday School superintendent for many years.  He retired in 1983 from the Crane Company as an A-1 Tool Grinder with over 40 years of service.  His passions in life were God, family, gardening, and working on lawn mowers.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Otis Campbell who he loved, adored and took care of for many years; and four brothers. 

Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and David Hoover of Flintstone and Donna and Donald Lindsay of Rocky Face; four grandchildren, Jason Lindsay, Courtney Day, Benjamin Hoover, and Amanda Hoover Patten; and eight great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held on Sunday, Aug. 31, at 1:30 p.m. at the Tennessee Georgia Memorial Park, with Reverend Jason Thomas officiating.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, Aug. 30, from 5-8 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, at the end of Historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
