CCS Earns 62-0 Win Over Grace In Season Opener

The "Coach Spence" era started with a bang Friday night as the Chargers of Chattanooga Christian drenched Grace  62-0 while amassing 417 rushing yards.   

Junior tailback D.J. Toney scored three of the Charger touchdowns on just eight carries. He had 134 rushing yards. 

Senior quarterback Zach Mercer had 98 yards rushing on three carries, scoring on an 82-yard run in the first quarter. 

Freshman tailback T.J. Smith scored his first prep touchdown and had five carries for 96 yards. Junior tailback Nick Wilson had 10 carries for 83 yards.  

Cam Aldridge and Justin Wheeler both had interceptions that were returned for touchdowns.  

Zach Mercer was 3 of 6 passing for 57 yards.  

Grace quarterback Jared Thompson was 4 of 14 for 14 yards in the air and rushed for 58 yards on seven carries.  James Rowell rushed 10 times for 33 yards.  

Grace travels to Grundy County next week and CCS will play at Lookout Valley.

Rob Spence gets his first win at CCS after being hired last spring.
