Joyce “Maw Maw” McRae Avans, 80, of LaFayette, GA, died Friday, August 15, 2014.
She was a member of Fairview South Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Avans.
She is survived by two daughters, Regina Matthews, of Cloudland, GA and Rhonda Adams, of Chattanooga; three sons, Rev. Randy Avans, Roger Avans and Rickey Avans, all of LaFayette; four sisters, Mattie Lou Howard, Louise Chandler and Sue Sosebee, all of LaFayette and Dot Wrape, of Columbus, Ga; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Judy Anderson.
Funeral from the Wallis Memorial Chapel will be Monday, August 18, at 3 p.m. with Rev. J.D. Gibson and Rev. Dewey Blalock officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview South Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rodney Avans, Michael Young, Matthew Hunter, Lance Brown, Charles Sargent and Chris White. Honoary Pallbearers will be Shepherd Hills Health Care Employees.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. on Sunday, August 17.
