Shives, Loren Leslie "Les" (Trion)

Loren Leslie “Les” Shives, 85, of Trion, Georgia, died on Thursday, August 14, 2014, at the Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Shives was born Feb. 27, 1929, in Knoxville, Ia., son of the late Floyd Leslie Shives and Hazel Smith Shives. He was a member of the Pennville Church of Christ and a Veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was retired from the Town of Trion where he worked as a recorder and had also worked as an office manager of the Washington Coca-Cola, and as general manager of the Bargain City U.S.A. Mr. Shives was also the owner and operator of Shives Jewelry for many years.

Mr. Shives is survived by his wife, Betty J. Shives; son and daughter-in-law, Brent Alan and Tracy Jackson Shives; daughters and son-in-law, Jacklyn Shives, Cindy and Jeff Wells; brother, Otis G. Shives; sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Oscar Holcomb; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Memorial services for Mr. Shives will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, at the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Hugh Glaze and Minister Robbie Eversole officiating. There will be a gathering of family and friends from noon until the hour of service on Monday.
