University of Tennessee at Chattanooga wide receiver Tommy Hudson was recently named to the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) Punt Returner Watch List. Hudson is the sixth Moc to be named to the 2014 CFPA Watch List.
"Congratulations to Tommy Hudson on earning a spot on the CFPA Watch List," said CFPA Executive Director Brad Smith. "Hudson will be one of the top punt returners in the FCS to watch this season."
Hudson averaged 9.1 yards on 15 returns as a junior in 2013.
He was second in the Southern Conference and No. 26 in the FCS in punt return average. His best run was a 27-yarder at Georgia State. He also had a 19-yard return that set up the Mocs’ second score in a 20-10 win over No. 15 Wofford.
The goal of College Football Performance Awards is to provide the most scientifically rigorous conferments in college football. Recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams. Twenty-eight CFPA winners have been NFL Draft first round selections.
Junior Jacob Huesman (QB), Keon Williams (RB), Faysal Shafaat (TE), Nick Pollard (P), and senior Davis Tull (DE) are the five other Mocs who have also earned spots on the CFPA Watch Lists heading into 2014.
The Mocs kick off the 2014 season on the road at Central Michigan on Thursday, Aug. 28. Chattanooga’s first home game is set for Saturday, Sept. 6 against Jacksonville State. Season tickets are on sale now on GoMocs.com.
