Helen Ruth Tyler, of Chattanooga, died on Friday, August 1, 2014 surrounded by her loving family.

Helen, affectionately called “Nannie” by family and friends, was born Aug. 24, 1923, to the late Paul and Minnie Bradley.  She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Roy Leatherwood and Leonard Tyler;  brother, William “Bill” Bradley;  sisters, Mary Agnes Reed and Edna Marie Bradley.

She retired from Standard Coosa-Thatcher in 1980.  She was a member of Tyner United Methodist Church where she participated in the Tyner Quilters group.  She was also a strong supporter of River of Life Ooltewah Church.  Helen was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 359.

Helen was known for her unfailing willingness to help others, her enthusiasm for life, being a devoted, kind and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend.  She left an everlasting legacy in her family.

She is survived by her son, Roy (Linda) Leatherwood;  daughter, Sharon Sue (Dan) Cahill;  grandchildren, Michelle (Scott) Kimball,  Vanessa (Dana) Bennett, Chris Cahill, Cindy Cable;  great-grandchildren, Zachary Johnson, Gage, Cadyn and Sidney Cahill, Jensen and McKenzy Kimball, Trey Cable;  great-great-grandchild, Bentley Cable;  special friends, Evelyn Taylor, Janice Adams and Allie Nicely.

Services will be held on Monday, Aug. 4, at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Reverend Reece Fauscett officiating and music by Pastor Scott Kimball.  Burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery.

The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Annesofie Dubeck and Hospice of Chattanooga for their unwavering care and support.
