Evelyn Martin
Evelyn Dixon Martin, 105, a life-long city resident, died on Monday, July 28, 2014 at a local health care facility.
She was born Dec. 16,1908, in Chattanooga, the daughter of E.M. (Boyd) and Mary Milliken Dixon. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband, Terry Ellis Martin, her parents, sisters, Irene Dixon Hassler, Ethel Dixon Case, and brother, Marvin Dixon.
Survivors are her daughter, Mary Martin Low of Kalispell, Mt., son, Robert E. (Sue Robinson) Martin, and brother, Howard Dixon, of Chattanooga, three nieces, eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Martin and her late husband owned and operated Martin's Food Market in St. Elmo for some 30 years.
She was a former member of Brainerd Baptist Church, but in later years, a member of St. Elmo Ave. Baptist Church. She also was a member of the former St. Elmo Chapter of the Eastern Star.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 4, at 11 a.m., at Greenwood Cemetery with the Reverend Donald Givens officiating.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Consulate Health Care Facility for all the kindness and loving care given to Evelyn while she was a resident.
