Chuck Is Doing His Job - And Response (8)

  • Friday, July 25, 2014

Four years ago we conservatives sent Chuck Fleischmann to Washington to basically say no to Obama and every program he tried to sneak through.  He did such a good job at this we sent him back two years ago.

Now this young whippersnapper comes along and wants to go to Washington under the Republican title to cross the isles and negotiate with Obama and the Democrats. Is he a Democrat or Republican?

If he quacks like a duck and walks like a duck.

I believe Weston would identify with any party to try and get votes. To me that says a lot about his character (or lack thereof).

I don't think that we need nor can afford to send another Wamp back to Congress. This is not a family legacy.

Besides, Weston lost a lot of credibility after the whole secret taping of Scottie Mayfield. The government spies on us enough; will we have to worry about our Congressman too?

At least with Chuck, I wouldn't worry about being secretly recorded.  I think we should keep Chuck as he is doing a great job.

According to Rasmussen Reports from June 2014:

8% of likely voters believe Congress is doing a good or excellent job.
64% rate the performance of Congress as Poor.
14% think that most members of Congress care what their constituents think.
72% think it would be better for the country if most members of Congress were defeated in November.

Yeah, our present "representative" is sure doing his job.....as part of the worst Do Nothing Congress in the history of our country.

It takes a lot to get me upset but enough is enough with Chuck Fleischmann and the negative campaign. I now have to watch Scottie Mayfield on TV telling me about being secretly taped by Weston Wamp. Could it be because the "Good Ole Milk Man" did an about face on his thoughts on Chuck Fleischmann and when Weston tried to call him on it he denied it.

Hey, I love your Ice Cream but I don't need you helping me with your politics. Your son is the one who slit tires of one of Chuck's campaign staffers and then Jordan Powell slammed you after you tried to apologize. Now you two are out to bury Weston.

Let me tell you that Weston has had my vote for some time now. He has not resorted to mud slinging or screaming and yelling when the campaign or debate wasn't going his way. I for one am tired of the politics that we have had going on for the past several decades and I want something new. I want someone with fresh ideas and someone that is ready for change. Young men founded this country. Young men have fought and died for this country. Young men have been leaders for a long time. The young man running against Chuck Fleischmann has shown the class that I want to represent me in the 3rd District. Now its time for the young people of the 3rd District to go out and vote and send Weston to Congress.

And, before you ask, I am a red-blooded, truck-driving, God-fearing American who has worked in the construction industry for years as a project manager. At 41 years old I have more faith in Weston than Chuck. J. Pat Williams can I get an amen.

Floyd Shadrick, I’m just glad your letter was in the opinion section and not the news section. You made one factual point, “He did such a good job at this we sent him back two years ago”. Yes we did and at the same time we sent Obama back to the White House because he was doing such a good job at this? One must ask what was in the water we were drinking because Mr. Fleischmann and Mr. Obama have both been rated as two of the worst of the worst. Both see themselves as being so right that they won’t bend. Look where that has got us.

You can’t have it both ways so am I to think you also support the re-election of Obama? If you believe Fleischmann has done a good job you should go to the website Gov.Track.us and just look at his record. Perhaps you already have and this is what you want. Well, I don’t.

Okay, I’ve given the opinion on this very site that Chuck is a nice guy. I’m man enough to admit that maybe I was wrong based on how low he has stooped in his desperation to get re-elected. He is even bringing others down with him. Why don’t you just check the facts and think about your opinion. I’m not going to be rude to you and tell you to “man up”, but I do have to admit it’s what I’m thinking.

Well, Jeff, you can "believe" whatever you'd like about Weston.  Fortunately, what you choose to believe does not necessarily make it reality.  If you think that what's gong on in Washington is working and is in the best interest of this country, then by all means vote for the current congressman. I mean, if gridlock and frothing vitriol flying in both directions is your thing then that's your prerogative. Weston happens to believe this country would be better served if we try and work together even when we may disagree with those we have to work with. It's easy to sit back and shake your head saying 'no' like a petulant child. It takes leadership and vision to roll up your sleeves and get to work with with those you may not see eye to eye with.

Oh, and the earlier commenter saying that he is a whippersnapper? Really? Who even says that anymore? Like it or not, the younger generation is coming. The country has played it your way for quite some time and my, what a bang up job has been done in the last decade or so.  You'll have to forgive us if some of us want to try a different tactic besides angrily shouting that the "other side" has cooties. You know, Reagan also created a bipartisan spirit.  I wonder if you would have been upset with him today.  The attitude that if you don't agree with absolutely everything I say means that you are the devil and are going to hell is simply ludicrous.  Those wanting a different attitude would do well to elect Weston Wamp. At least he is mature enough to at least talk to anyone who will work with him. We are all Americans. Let's remember that.

Chuck Fleischmann has been doing his job? According to his role, laid out in The Constitution of the United States of America, that statement is false. He was sent to Washington to represent the people of his district and to govern, not to “say No” to the president and the Democratic Party. Article 1 section 8 gives Congress the power to “pay the debt and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States”, “establish a uniform rule of naturalization”, “to raise and support armies” ,and “to make all laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into execution the fore going powers” This is what Chuck Fleischmann was elected to do, so let’s see how he stacks up.

He voted for the Boehner- Obama budget compromise which allows our country to spend more money in real dollars this year than last. That is not “paying the debt” that is increasing the debt. The congressman had the opportunity to allow barge owners to pay a usage fee for the Chick Lock ( which was offered by the owners themselves) in order to help fund long needed maintenance to the lock, yet Congressman Chuck Fleischmann voted against it. The ability of barge owners to navigate the Tennessee River directly affects the “general welfare” of so many people and businesses who rely on good being transported up and down the River. He is silent on a solution to our Immigration problem. Which is hardly “establishing a uniform rule of naturalization. “ He voted to cut the cost of living increase for our veterans. That doesn’t sound like his job duty of “supporting armies” And most importantly, regardless of how many pieces of legislation he likes to take credit for, he has sponsored zero ( repeat z-e-r-o) pieces of legislation that have made it out of committee for a vote. Therefore he has made no laws to carry out the execution of the constitution.

I am a young American who will have to live with the consequences of the debt of this country. It is not enough, nor does any founding document of our country call for simply saying no to the President. We need people who will take a stand and offer solutions. Our country is in peril and too many people are sitting and doing nothing. This district has a choice they can stick with the same member of Congress who has done nothing and offered no solutions. Or perhaps they will decide to send someone new to Washington. We are lucky to have a choice. Not every district in the country has the option to send home an unproductive member of Congress. Join me in voting for Weston Wamp and let’s give him a chance to do the job Chuck hasn't been able to do.

To say that Chuck is doing his job is an insult to the people of the 3rd district. He has not represented all of the people of the 3rd district but rather only the extreme right wing and their interests..he has certainly not represented me or my interests. It is not the job of our representative to be an obstructionists and simply vote or be against everything our President says or does. We need jobs, we need infrastructure improvements, we need tax reform, healthcare, immigration reform and the list goes on and on. this has been the worst congress in the history of our country and Chuck has been the poster child for this inept group. it is time for a change and move forward. I am tired of the same old dribble and the same candidates over and over. Luckily there is another highly qualified choice other than Chuck or Weston. I will happily be voting for Mary Headrick.

Last week I saw a post on the Chattanoogan that Chuck reported a wealth of $700,000.00 when he started serving congress four years ago.  It stated he makes $174,000.00 a year from his congressional job, so in four years that would be an additional $696,000.00.  That along with his $700,000.00 would be $1,396,000.00.  However the post stated that Chuck reported his current wealth at 3 million dollars.  Who is he working for?  Supposed to be his constituents?  Just wondering what kind of good  job he is doing to come up with the extra $1,604,000.00 and who he got it from or what kind of whopping interest rate he has on his savings. Gee, he still got three million dollars and no living expense deducted so he is really into the money machine doing his constituents a good job.  No wonder there are so many career politicians in Washington.  If Chuck has any character he should tell all of his fine constituents how and where his extra money came from.  Please Chuck don’t tell me it was interest, come up with a better explanation.  I sure am interested if the previous post was correct as I am at least one vote.
