Delia Viola Tate Parham, 96, of Flintstone, GA, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2014.
She was born on November 6, 1917 in Marion County, TN to the late Marvin and Nelvia (Campbell) Tate. She had lived most of her life in Chattanooga Valley where she was a member of the Chattanooga Valley Baptist Church. She received her high school diploma from Chattanooga Valley High School at the age of 52 being the oldest person to ever graduate from that school. She was a homemaker who was very strong willed. She loved her family, her straw hat, gardening, mowing her yard, enjoying her flowers, and sewing.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Ralph L. (Kaiser) Parham; and daughter, Beverly Sue Forrester.
Survivors include her daughter, Ollie “Peggy” (David) Plummer; sons, Jimmy R. (Marie) Parham of Sharpsburg, GA and Ralph M. (Nancy) Parham of Vancouver, WA; friend dear to her heart, Eddie Hearn; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Friday, July 25 at 1 p.m. at the Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Thursday, July 24 from 4-8 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, who has charge of the arrangements.
