Linda Joan Roddy, 64, of Dayton, TN, died early Saturday morning, July 19, 2014 at her home.
Linda was born in Chicago, IL on March 6, 1950 to the late Alvin and Josephine (Burg) Jacobsen. Linda was a graduate of the Grand Rapids School of Bible, earned her B.S. degree at Bryan College and then earned her master’s at West Georgia College. She was an elementary school teacher in Rhea County, an adult education teacher and taught ESL at Dayton City School. Linda was a member of Grace Bible Church where she had served as a Sunday school teacher, AWANA leader, nursery worker and on the church trustee board. She enjoyed attending Irish dancing class, ballroom dancing and was a member of the Red Hat Society.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Terryl Roddy of Dayton; her two sons, Michael Roddy of Nashville and Ryan Roddy of Chattanooga; two brothers, Larry Jacobsen of Dayton and Norman (Lucy) Jacobsen of Mokena, IL; and her sister, Joyce (Mitchell) Lockard of Hazzard, KY.
Funeral services for Linda will be held Tuesday, July 22 at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with her pastor, Dr. Doug Russell officiating.
She will be laid to rest next to her parents in Rhea Memory Gardens Wednesday, July 23 at 11 a.m. followed by a white dove release.
The family is being served by the Vanderwall Funeral Home where they will receive friends Tuesday, July 22 after 4 p.m.
