Hixson Woman Killed By Wrong-Way Driver On I-24: Husband, Daughter Injured

A Hixson woman was killed on impact by a wrong-way driver on Interstate 24 at Manchester, Tn., on Saturday night.

The victim was 63-year-old Phyllis Golden.

Her husband, James L. Golden, 62, and daughter, Katherine M. Golden, 22, were airlifted.

Patrick Rhodes, 35, of Tullahoma, who was driving a 1992 Nissan Sentra west in the eastbound lanes, was ejected and killed.

His vehicle struck the Goldens' 2001 Chevrolet van head-on.

Jim Golden was the Republican nominee for Congress against Marilyn Lloyd in the late 1980s.  He then became a missionary to Russia.  He returned as general counsel for Covenant Transport.
